Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 22/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over southwestern Victoria will gradually extend eastwards across central and northwestern areas this evening but will stall over the northeast of the State on Thursday. The next high pressure system will move rapidly east from Bight waters pass just south of Tasmania on Thursday, reaching the south Tasman Sea on Friday. Another low pressure trough will enter western Victoria Friday afternoon, clearing eastern districts early Saturday as another high pressure system approaches Tasmania. This high will also move rapidly over the southern Tasman Sea on Sunday and a cold front will cross Bight waters to reach western Victoria Sunday night.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated thundery showers over western and central areas, possibly reaching the eastern ranges tonight. Drizzle patches developing over the southwest tonight. Warm moderate northeast to northerly winds ahead of a cooler southwest to southerly change over the southwest, reaching central areas this evening.Thursday 23 OctoberMorning drizzle patches in the south. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the eastern highlands, mostly during the afternoon. Mild and mostly cloudy in the south with moderate southerly wind tending southeasterly and freshening in the afternoon. Warm to hot and and mainly sunny in the north with generally light winds.Friday 24 OctoberMorning drizzle patches over Gippsland and about the Otway coast, then a fine day. Warm to hot inland but milder along the coast. Light to moderate northeasterly winds turning westerly in the afternoon.Saturday 25 OctoberIsolated showers over Gippsland, scattered in the far east. Morning drizzle patches over remaining southern areas then becoming fine, mild and partly cloudy in the afternoon. Dry warm to hot and mostly sunny over the north. Moderate southeast to southerly winds, freshening near the coast during the afternoon.Sunday 26 OctoberIsolated showers or drizzle over Gippsland, clearing. The chance of thundery showers in the afternoon and evening across western and central districts. A warm to hot day with moderate north to northeasterly wind, freshening over western and central areas during the afternoon. A cooler gusty westerly change likely to reach the west in the evening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
