MELBOURNE - Oct 19/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the east coast of Queensland. The ridge will gradually weaken during Sunday, before being reinforced by a new high pressure system that will move in to the Tasman Sea from Monday. Forecast for the rest of SundayFine and clear across much of the state. Some showers about the east coast, mainly about the central and northern coasts, particularly the Cassowary Coast. Moderate to fresh northeast to southeast winds.Monday 20 OctoberThe chance of some mainly isolated showers about the east coast in an onshore flow, and about the southeast Queensland border late in the day. Fine and sunny over the interior. Warm in the southwest and southern interior. Moderate to fresh northeast to southeast winds.Fire Danger - Very High Fire dangers over the northern interior and about the eastern interior.Tuesday 21 OctoberThe strong high in the Tasman Sea will maintain a firm ridge along the east coast. The onshore flow should lead to some showers about the east coast, particularly about the southern coast during the day. Fine and sunny over the interior. Warm in the southwest and southern interior.Wednesday 22 OctoberThe high in the Tasman Sea will weaken slightly but still maintain a firm ridge along the east coast. The onshore flow should lead to some showers about the east coast. Fine and sunny over the interior. Warm in the southwest and southern interior.Thursday 23 OctoberA weak surface trough may bring showers and perhaps some thunderstorms to the southern interior. A weak ridge should continue to push an onshore flow and showers onto the tropical east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Friday until SundayA weak surface trough may drift eastwards across the southern districts, possibly bringing showers and some thunderstorms to the southeast of the state towards the end of the outlook period.
