USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Oct 17/14 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Oct 17.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids were higher.  Grains found
early support from buying interest and a lower dollar.  Corn saw additional
support from overnight export announcement while soybeans rallied on good demand
and dry weather in Brazil.  Heavy rains across the Midwest slowed or delayed
harvest early in the week; however, is expected to pick up later as the extended
forecast looks favorable.  Nationally the corn crop is 24 percent harvested and
soybeans at 40 percent completed which is below the five year average.  Hard red
winter wheat was at 68 percent planted, above the fives year average of 37
percent.  Wheat was mostly 13-41 cents higher.  Corn was mostly 3-22 cents
higher.  Sorghum was 13-32 cents higher.  Soybeans were 19-49 cents higher.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 27
1/4 to 32 1/4 cents higher from 7.40-7.60 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Soft
Red winter rail bid was not quoted.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red Winter
terminal bid was 24 cents higher from 3.92-4.77 per bushel.  Minneapolis and
Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 7
cents lower to 41 cents higher from 7.76 1/2-7.96 1/2 per bushel.  Portland US
Soft White wheat rail was 13 3/4 cents higher from 6.65-6.97 per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 4 to 5 cents higher from 3.45-
3.53 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 12 1/2 to 17 1/2
cents higher at 3.02 1/4 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 8 to
22 cents higher from 3.07-3.11 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 4
1/2 to 7 1/2 cents higher from 3.14 1/4-3.55 1/4 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2
rail Yellow corn was 3 1/2 to 7 1/2 cents higher from 3.24 1/4-3.38 1/4 per
bushel.  Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn rail was 12 1/2 cents lower at 2.92 1/4
per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 10 3/4 cents lower to 3 1/4 cents higher from 3.53-3.67 per bushel.  US
No 3 or better rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of
Minneapolis was steady at 7.35 per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains
and Barges-export was not available.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 32 cents higher at 5.58 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 13 cents higher from 5.89-6.07 per cwt.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 32 1/2 cents higher at 9.39
1/2 per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 19 1/2
to 24 1/2 cents higher from 9.61 1/2-9.76 1/2 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2
Yellow truck soybeans were 49 1/2 cents higher at 9.56 1/2 per bushel.  Illinois
48 percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 8.10 to 9.10 higher from 366.60-
379.60 per ton.  Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 90 points
lower to 115 points higher from 32.36-34.61 cents per pound.
