MELBOURNE - Oct 17/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high near Tasmania will move east into the Tasman Sea late today, strengthening a ridge along the east Queensland coast. The ridge will gradually weaken during Sunday, before being reinforced by a new high pressure system from Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine and clear over most of the state except for some showers about the southeast coast district. Moderate to fresh northeast to southeast winds.Saturday 18 OctoberFine and sunny across the state except for the moderate chance of showers about the southeast coast district and the north tropical coast. Moderate to fresh northeast to southeast winds.Fire Danger - Very high over the northern districts and the Central Highlands.Sunday 19 OctoberThe ridge is likely to push showers onto the North Tropical Coast, and more isolated showers are possible over the remainder of the east coast. Fine, dry and sunny over the remainder of the state.Monday 20 OctoberThe chance of some mainly isolated showers about the east coast in an onshore flow. Fine, sunny and becoming warm over the interior.Tuesday 21 OctoberThe ridge should continue to push an onshore flow and showers across the east coast, with showers possibly spreading also into the eastern parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district. Fine, warm and sunny over the interior.Wednesday until FridayA weak surface trough may drift eastwards across the southern districts late in the week, spreading showers and perhaps some thunderstorms over the area as it progresses. A weak ridge should continue to push an onshore flow and some showers onto the tropical east coast.
