Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system offshore from Sydney will move slowly away to the southeast Wednesday night as a weak high pressure ridge develops over NSW. A relatively weak cold front is expected to reach the South Coast late Thursday then move along the remainder of the coast during Friday with a fresh southeasterly change and a few showers associated. A high pressure system is forecast to develop over eastern NSW during Friday behind this change, then move over the Tasman Sea on Saturday with generally fine conditions expected across the state. Temperatures are expected to increase in western districts Sunday/Monday though sea breezes and another southeast change are likely to keep temperature milder near the coast.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdaySlight to moderate chance of showers near the central and southern coast, mostly clearing during the evening. Fine and mostly clear remainder. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds, easing. Dangerous surf conditions.Thursday 16 OctoberMedium to high chance of showers in the southeast developing in the afternoon, and a slight to medium chance of showers on the far north coast at night. Showers falling as snow above 1500m on the Alps. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Early frost patches possible on the ranges. Moderate southwesterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes. Dangerous surf conditions, easing.Friday 17 OctoberMedium chance of showers along coastal districts and Snowy Mountains, with a higher chance along the northern coast. Showers possibly falling as snow in the Alps above 1400 metres in the morning. Slight chance of showers along the ranges. Fine and sunny in the remainder. Moderate southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 18 OctoberSlight to medium chance of showers along the far north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate northeast to southeast winds.Sunday 19 OctoberSlight chance of a shower on the far north coast early and about the far southeast later. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Mostly north to northeast winds, freshening along the coast in the afternoon before a late southerly change on the South Coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
