Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system off the central New South Wales coast will move away across the Tasman Sea on Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile a high pressure system south of the Bight extends a ridge over southern Victoria, but this ridge will erode later on Wednesday as a cold front approaches and then move across Victoria during Thursday. The high south of the Bight will finally move steadily eastwards to cross southern Victoria on Friday to reach the central Tasman Sea on Saturday. A trough will enter the far southwest of the State later Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain in the far east easing to showers this evening. Medium chance of showers over remaining southern districts, contracting to the coast. Dry over the northwest inland. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Wednesday 15 OctoberMorning frost patches in the west and north. A medium chance of showers across southern and mountain areas, decreasing in the afternoon though increasing again in the far southwest during the evening. Remaining dry north of the Dividing Range. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Thursday 16 OctoberMorning frost patches over the northeast inland. A high chance of showers over southern and mountain districts, contracting north and east across the State during the afternoon, although grading to just a slight chance in the northwest. Cool to mild with moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresher near the coast during the day.Friday 17 OctoberMorning fog and frost patches inland. A moderate chance of showers over Gippsland, clearing during the day. Fine and mainly sunny over the remainder. Mild in the south, warm in the north. Moderate east to southeast winds in the south and light winds inland.Saturday 18 OctoberFine and mainly sunny throughout. Warm in the south, warm to hot across the northwest. Moderate north to northwest winds, freshening in the south and west during the afternoon. A milder southwest change entering the southwest late in the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
