Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over northern Victoria will move eastward during Sunday afternoon and evening. A low pressure system is expected to form along this trough as it moves away from the central New South Wales coast during Monday. A cold front will follow crossing Victoria early Monday morning and a deep low will pass south of Tasmania. During Tuesday a high strengthening in the Bight will extend a ridge over southern Victoria but this ridge will erode later on Wednesday as another cold front approaches from the Southern Ocean.
Forecast for the rest of SundayEarly fog and low cloud patches in the south, otherwise fine during the morning with warm northerly winds developing in the east. A medium chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms in the east, higher about the ranges. A medium chance of showers developing in the southwest in the afternoon and reaching central districts in the evening. A cooler fresh southwesterly change developing in the west during the afternoon, extending rapidly across central areas and into the southeast during the evening.Monday 13 OctoberA high chance of showers over the east, tending to rain during the day. A medium chance of showers in remaining southern and mountain areas with possible hail in the western districts, but only a slight chance of showers over the northern plains. A cool to cold day with fresh to locally strong southwest to southerly winds.Tuesday 14 OctoberA high chance of rain in the southeast easing to showers during the day. Slight to medium chance of showers over remaining southern and mountain areas but dry over the far northwest. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Wednesday 15 OctoberA medium chance of showers across southern and mountain areas, easing later in the day. Remaining dry in the northwest.
