MELBOURNE - Oct 11/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards northeast New South Wales, while a broad trough dominates the state's west. This pattern is drawing down warm northerly winds, which will continue during Sunday as a cold front approaches from the Southern Ocean. Conditions are set to become increasingly unsettled across most districts as the front draws near, aided by the development of a low pressure centre within the inland trough during Monday, which is then likely to deepen as it moves to the coast on Tuesday. During this time there is a high chance that parts of the east will receive significant rainfall, although this will be largely dependant on the position of the low. A vigorous cool change will also accompany the passage of this system, bolstered by a strengthening high to the west. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, and parts of the northern inland, increasing over the ranges and western slopes during the afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny in the far west and the south. Northwest to northeasterly winds, tending southerly in the far west and along the southern coast later in the day.Sunday 12 OctoberHigh chance of showers and thunderstorms over the northern inland, mainly afternoon. A slight to moderate chance of showers and thunderstorms elsewhere on and west of the ranges, with mostly fine conditions near the coast. Northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening along the coast and over the western inland during the day. A south to southwesterly change in the far west later in the day.Monday 13 OctoberVery high chance of rain in the southeast, with possible heavy falls. Medium to high chance of showers over most of the remainder, although generally fine in the far west. The chance of thunderstorms in most eastern and central districts. Strengthening northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a cooler, gusty southwest change spreading through the west and south.Tuesday 14 OctoberVery high chance of rain over most of the coast and ranges, and parts of the western slopes. Possible heavy falls, particularly over the Hunter and Mid North Coast districts. Moderate to high chance of showers over the remainder of the west, although remaining fine in the far west. Fresh to strong south to southwesterly winds extending throughout by the afternoon. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Saturday.Product IDN10031 Notice Board Rainfall Forecast Terminology Changes to Marine Wind Warnings Media Releases Marketing Meteorological Offices Cobar weather Coffs Harbour weather Lord Howe Island weather Moree weather Norfolk Island weather Wagga Wagga weather Other Information Marine Reference Points Severe Thunderstorms in New South Wales Severe Weather in New South Wales Air pollution services for Sydney About Weather Forecast Services About Warning Services Warnings Water Climate Environment Tropical Cyclones Tsunami Warning Centre Agriculture - Water and the Land Marine & Ocean UV & Sun Protection Rainfall & River Conditions Graphical Views Radar Maps Rainfall Forecasts Seasonal Outlooks Climate Variability & Change Climate Data Online Seasonal Streamflow Forecasts Water Storage MetEye™ National Weather Services Aviation Weather Services Defence Services Space Weather Services Registered User Services Commercial Weather Services Business Entry Point Facebook Google+ Youtube Blog Careers Sitemap Feedback Freedom of Information Indigenous Weather Knowledge Glossary This page was created at 04:15 on Saturday 11 October 2014 (GMT) © Copyright Commonwealth of Australia 2014, Bureau of Meteorology (ABN 92 637 533 532) | Disclaimer | Privacy | Accessibility var hostname = window.location.hostname; var host = hostname.split("."); if (host[0] == "reg") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-20386085-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); else if (host[0] == "wdev") var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-21709175-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); else var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-3816559-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ?
