Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak low pressure trough over southwest Victoria on Friday will extend slowly eastwards tonight across central parts of the State before dissipating over the east of the State during Saturday. A narrow ridge of high pressure will extend across southern Victoria late on Saturday. Another low pressure trough will enter western Victoria on Sunday afternoon and will extend to eastern parts of the State at night then a low pressure system is expected to form along this trough as it moves off the central New South Wales coast during Monday. A cold front will follow crossing Bass Strait on Monday morning and a deep low will pass south of Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of cloud. Only the slight chance of showers over central Victoria and Gippsland. Light to moderate northerly winds turning cooler southerly over the southwest and central areas.Saturday 11 OctoberThe slight chance of morning drizzle about the southwest coast, otherwise fine. A cool to mild day in the south with morning cloud breaking in the early afternoon. A warm mostly sunny day in the north. Light winds inland and moderate southerlies along the coast.Sunday 12 OctoberFine and mostly sunny during the morning with warm northerly winds freshening in the south. A slight to medium chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms in the east and a slight chance of late showers in the southwest. A cooler fresh southwesterly change developing in the west during the afternoon and extending rapidly across central areas and into the east during the evening.Monday 13 OctoberA high chance of showers over the east, tending to rain later in the day. A medium chance of showers in remaining southern and mountain areas but only a slight chance of showers over the northwest. A cool to cold day with fresh to locally strong southwest to southerly winds.Tuesday 14 OctoberA slight to medium chance of showers across southern and mountain areas but dry over the far northwest. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
