Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 10/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge across the New South Wales. A low pressure trough will develop over the central west of the state on Saturday, and then move east to be over central parts of the state, bringing more unsettled weather for the weekend, mostly in the north of the state. A low is expected to develop on Monday and to move off the coast early Tuesday. Significant rainfall is likely with the low over parts of eastern New South Wales and will be largely dependant on the position of the low.
Forecast for the rest of FridaySlight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the northern inland. Fine elsewhere. Northwest to northeast winds, freshening along the coast in the afternoon.Saturday 11 OctoberMedium to high chance of showers and thunderstorms north from the Hunter, mainly over the ranges and western slopes. Fine in the far west and in the south. Northwest to northeasterly winds through the eastern half of the state, with fresh southerly winds developing in the far west and along southern parts of the coast.Sunday 12 OctoberSlight to moderate chance of showers and thunderstorms, mostly on and west of the ranges, increasing to a high chance over the northern inland. Northeast to northwest winds, freshening along the coast. A south to southwest change in the far west later in the day.Monday 13 OctoberVery high chance of rain over the southeast, with possible heavy falls. Medium to high chance of showers over most of the remainder, although fine in the far west. Isolated thunderstorms over much of the east. Strengthening northwest to northeast winds ahead of a cooler southwest change spreading through the west and south.Tuesday 14 OctoberVery high chance of rain over most of the coast and ranges and parts of the western slopes, with possible heavy falls, particularly over the Hunter and Mid North coast districts. Fine in the far west. Moderate to high chance of showers over the remainder of the west. Fresh to strong south to southwest winds extending throughout by the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Saturday.Product IDN10031
