USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Oct 10/14 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Oct 10.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids were mostly higher ahead of
Friday’s USDA report.  The sharp sell-off in the U.S. dollar index lend support
to grains.  Corn harvest has been slowed by rains and muddy conditions.  Corn
harvest advanced with 17 percent complete as compared to last week’s 12 percent.
Soybeans are at 20 percent complete as compared to last week of 10 percent.
Wheat saw some pressure as rain fell in parts of the Southern Plains and
Midwest.  Weekly export sales were supportive with corn coming in at 30.9 mb
(784,000 mt), with all for the 2014-2015 marketing year.  Export sales for
soybeans were bullish coming in at 33.1 mb (901,900 mt) with 33.9 mb (923,400
mt) for the 2014-2015 marketing year.  Wheat export sales were listed at 13.7 mb
(741,000 mt), with all for the 2014-2015 marketing year. This was considered
bullish.  Wheat was 15 cents lower to 1.22 higher.  Corn was 15-27 cents higher.
Sorghum was 39-40 cents higher.  Soybeans were 17-37 cents higher.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 9
1/4 to 11 1/4 cents higher from 7.07 3/4-7.32 3/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No
2 Soft Red winter rail bid was not quoted.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red
Winter terminal bid was 37 cents to 1.22 higher from 3.68-4.53 per bushel.
Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent
protein rail, was 15 to 38 cents lower from 7.35 1/2-8.03 1/2 per bushel.
Portland US Soft White wheat rail was 1 1/2 cents lower to 10 1/4 cents higher
from 6.51 1/4-6.73 1/4 per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 22 to 25 cents higher from
3.41-3.48 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 22 cents higher
from 2.84 3/4-2.89 3/4 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 18 to 27
cents higher from 2.85-3.03 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 15 to
20 cents higher from 3.09 3/4-3.47 3/4 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow
corn was 22 cents higher from 3.20 3/4-3.30 3/4 per bushel.  Minneapolis US No 2
Yellow corn rail was 17 cents higher at 3.04 3/4 per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 3/4 cent lower at 3.63 3/4 per bushel.  US No 3 or better rail malting
Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was 85 cents higher at
7.35 per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export was not
available.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 39 cents higher at 5.26 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 40 cents higher from 5.89-6.07 per cwt.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 22 1/2 cents higher at 9.07
per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 33 1/2 to 37
1/2 cents higher from 9.42-9.52 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck
soybeans were 17 1/2 cents higher at 9.07 per bushel.  Illinois 48 percent
Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 19.80 to 24.80 higher from 358.50-370.50
per ton.  Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 16 points lower
from 33.51-35.51 cents per pound.
