Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred near Adelaide extends a ridge across the south of the state. The high will drift slowly eastwards across New South Wales over the next day or so, reaching the Tasman Sea on Thursday night or Friday morning. A low pressure trough will reach the far west of the state on Friday, and then move east to be over central parts of the state, bringing more unsettled weather for the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMedium chance of showers along the central and northern coasts, with a sight chance of extending to the adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Some patchy morning fogs and light frost over the southern ranges. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Friday 10 OctoberMedium chance of showers and thunderstorms over the north and central west slopes and plains, with a slight chance extending to the Hunter, northern and central ranges. Slight chance of showers developing late in the day near the Victorian border. Fine elsewhere. Generally light winds, with fresh afternoon seabreezes along the coast.Saturday 11 OctoberHigh chance of showers over the northern inland, possibly extending to areas from the Illawarra to the east of the Upper Western district. A medium chance of thunderstorms through much of the northeastern third of the state. Fine in the far west and in the south. Northwest to northeasterly winds through the eastern half of the state, with fresh southerly winds developing in the far west and along southern parts of the coast.Sunday 12 OctoberHigh chance of showers over the northern ranges, with a moderate chance of showers across the rest of the eastern half of the state. The chance of thunderstorms over the northeastern third of the state. Dry in the far west. Northeast to northwest winds, with a south to southwest change in the far west later in the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
