MELBOURNE - Oct 8/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near Adelaide will move steadily east and will cross northern Victoria on Wednesday night and Thursday morning then move out over the northern Tasman Sea by Friday morning. A low pressure trough is expected to enter western Victoria on Friday morning, tracking to the east before moving over the Tasman Sea on Saturday. A weak ridge of high pressure will strengthen over southern Victoria behind the trough, with a cold front developing in the Bight and reaching western Victoria during Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, clearing at night. Remaining dry in the north. Partly cloudy with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds easing inland.Thursday 9 OctoberIsolated morning showers near the coast and early morning fogs inland, clearing to a mild and mostly sunny day. Light winds tending north to northwesterly, with afternoon coastal sea breezes.Friday 10 OctoberIsolated showers developing in the southwest and extending eastward during the day, though remaining dry in the far north. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of an afternoon southwesterly change reaching Gippsland by the evening.Saturday 11 OctoberIsolated showers in the south clearing by the afternoon. Fine in the north. Warm in the north but milder in the south with light to moderate southerly winds developing.Sunday 12 OctoberDry and partly cloudy, apart from isolated showers developing late in the southwest.
