Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 7/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front has moved to northeastern New South Wales, and will reach the far northeast of the state by this evening. A high pressure system to the west of Adelaide will extend a ridge across the south of New South Wales in the wake of the front, and will become the main influence on the weather for Wednesday and Thursday. The high will drift eastwards to be over the Tasman Sea by Friday, while a low pressure trough will develop over western New South Wales on Friday and Saturday ahead of the next approaching cold front.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdaySlight chance of showers or thunderstorms about the Mid North Coast and surrounding areas. High chance of showers developing on the southern half of the coast tonight and possibly extending to the adjacent eastern ranges. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. North to northwesterly winds in the northeast, with a cooler west to southwesterly change extending through remaining districts, turning southeasterly along the coast.Wednesday 8 OctoberHigh chance of showers along the coast with a medium chance on the adjacent ranges, most likely on central and mid-northern parts of the coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh along the northern coast.Fire Danger -  Very High in the Northern Slopes Fire Area.Thursday 9 OctoberMedium chance of showers along the central and northern coasts, with a sight chance of extending to the adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Friday 10 OctoberSlight chance of showers developing on the northern ranges and the far west and southwest later in the day. Fine elsewhere. Generally light winds, with coastal afternoon seabreezes.Saturday 11 OctoberHigh chance of showers in the northeastern inland, possibly extending to areas from the south coast to the east of the Upper Western district. A medium chance of thunderstorms through much of the northeastern third of the state. Fine in the far west and southwest. North to northeasterly winds through most of the state, becoming south to southwesterly in the far west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
