U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Oct 6/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                       National Weekly Rice Summary
                 (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California)
                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long and medium grain prices trending steady.  Parboiled, Second
heads and Brewers all trending steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran, millfeed and
ground hulls all trending steady.  Louisiana Rough Rice price quotes trending steady
to weak on very limited trades as most inventory continues to be placed in storage.
Harvest in Texas and Louisiana completed.  Harvest in Arkansas is slowly progressing,
however spotty showers seem to be slowing the progress.
   In California, medium and short grain prices trending steady.  Second heads and
Brewers prices trending steady.  Rice by-products:  rice bran and ground hulls prices
steady.  Rice harvest under way with some slowing due to recent rains.  However,
warmer weather occurring which should allow farmers to catch up.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Oct 3rd, Nov 14 closed .03 higher at 12.585;
Jan 15 closed .02 higher at 12.735.  US dollar index on Friday settled at 86.64.
