MELBOURNE - Oct 6/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is situated over the northern Tasman Sea, while a cold front approaches from the west. A warm to hot northerly airstream is being generated between these systems, with a cooler southerly change expected as the front reaches the southwest this evening, continuing to the northeast during Wednesday. The next high will move into the west of the state later Wednesday and Thursday in the wake of the cold front, then should move slowly east to reach the Tasman Sea by Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayPatchy rain in the southwest, shifting to central and southeast districts overnight, and becoming more widespread near the Victorian border. Fine across the north, and along most of the coast. Winds northwest to northeasterly, fresh along the coast and fresh to strong in the far west. A gusty southwesterly change over the western inland, with the possibility of raised dust.Tuesday 7 OctoberMorning rain in central and southern parts, chiefly about western slopes of the Divide. Mostly fine during the afternoon, apart from the chance of showers or thunderstorms about the Mid North Coast and surrounding areas. Isolated showers redeveloping on the southern half of the coast at night. North to northwesterly winds in the northeast, with a cooler west to southwesterly change extending through remaining districts, turning southeasterly along the coast later.Fire Danger - Very High: Coastal districts north from Sydney, plus the Northern Tablelands and North West Slopes districts.Wednesday 8 OctoberIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges, more likely on central parts of the coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh along the northern coast.Thursday 9 OctoberIsolated showers along the central and northern coasts, and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Friday 10 OctoberIsolated showers developing in the southeast, and possibly in the northeast later in the day.
