Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 5/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will move rapidly towards Victoria today, reaching western Victoria late afternoon, central districts by the evening and then will clear far eastern Victoria early Tuesday morning. The next high pressure system will move over the Bight on Tuesday, but will remain west of Victoria on Wednesday but will extend a ridge across northern Victoria. A cold front will pass through Bass Strait Thursday night.
Forecast for the rest of MondayA warm to hot day with northerly winds strengthening in the west and south and about the ranges. A cooler, fresh to strong and gusty west to southwesterly change reaching the western border late in the afternoon, extending to central districts in the evening and the east at night. Isolated showers out ahead of the front, but a band of showers with the front and tending to areas of rain areas in the east tonight. Scattered showers in the south following the front. Isolated thunderstorms mainly with the change. Areas of dust developing with the change over the northwest.Fire Danger -  Very high in the northwest, high over the remainder.Tuesday 7 OctoberRain areas clearing from the east early morning. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts, generally contracting to the coast and eastern ranges during the afternoon. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 8 OctoberScattered showers on and south of the ranges, falling as snow about the Alpine peaks at first. Mainly fine over the northern inland, apart from the chance of an afternoon shower in the south. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, strong at times about the coast.Thursday 9 OctoberIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, more frequent near the coast. Mainly fine over the northern inland, apart from the chance of an afternoon shower in the south.
