Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 4/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge will be maintained along the east Queensland coast into early next week. A surface trough lies over the interior of the state and is expected to weaken during Sunday. An upper level trough will shift east off the east Queensland coast during Sunday. Very warm to hot conditions will extend through southern parts of the state early to mid next week ahead of a new surface trough approaching from the west.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayShowers and thunderstorms over the central and southern interior east of about Windorah, becoming less extensive during the evening. Possible isolated showers near the east coast south of Townsville, becoming more likely about the central coast during the evening. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate mostly northeast to southeast winds, fresh at times about the northern east coast.Sunday 5 OctoberShowers and the chance of thunderstorms through the central and southern interior, mostly east of about Longreach to St George and possibly getting into inland parts of the southeast and Wide Bay during the afternoon. Showers about the central coast, decreasing during the morning. Possible isolated showers developing near the east tropical coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds over the tropics and central districts, fresh at times near the north tropical coast. Light to moderate northwest to northeast winds elsewhere, fresh at times through the west.Fire Danger -  Very High inland parts of the North Tropical Coast district.Monday 6 OctoberThe upper level trough will push further offshore, with a return to more stable conditions over the state. A high in the Tasman Sea will maintain an onshore flow along much of the east coast though with just the chance of isolated showers about the islands. Conditions should be fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, with a hot day expected in the southwest in freshening northerly winds ahead of the new trough.Tuesday 7 OctoberA surface trough will move east over southern districts, with hot northerly winds extending through inland parts to its east. A weak upper trough will move across the southeast during the day, possibly producing some shower activity near the southern border ranges. An onshore wind flow may produce some isolated showers about the exposed east tropical coast and islands. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will continue elsewhere.Wednesday 8 OctoberThe surface trough will most likely contract off the southern Queensland coast during the day, with hot northerly winds ahead of the trough tending cooler southerly in its wake. There is some chance of isolated shower activity over the southeast of the state during the afternoon or evening following the wind change. A new high will move into southeastern Australia, extending a ridge and fine and sunny conditions into remaining parts of the state.Thursday until SaturdayThe new high should move east into the Tasman Sea during the outlook period, extending a ridge and moist onshore wind flow into eastern and central Queensland with shower activity gradually developing. A new trough may enter the state on Saturday, generating some shower and storm activity through the southern interior.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Sunday.Product IDQ10700
