Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system in the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the Queensland east coast. An upper level trough and an associated surface trough lie over the interior of the state, with the upper trough slowly moving eastwards over southern Queensland during the weekend, contracting offshore on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms are likely across much of the central interior and southeastern districts, increasing to scattered showers and thunderstorms over the southern interior. Isolated showers about the central coast, and the chance of some morning showers about the North Tropical Coast, the far northeastern Peninsula and about the southeast coast. The remainder of the state should be fine and mostly sunny. Light to moderate mostly northeast to southeast winds, fresh at times about the northern east coast.Fire Danger -  Very High Fire Danger in the Central West, North West, North Tropical Coast and Tablelands, and the Peninsula District.Sunday 5 OctoberAn upper level trough should move over the southeast of the state with isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms over the southeast and southern interior. A high in the Tasman Sea will direct an onshore flow and possible isolated showers to parts of the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere in the state.Monday 6 OctoberThe upper level trough will push offshore, with a return to more stable conditions over the state. The high will maintain the onshore flow and lead to the chance of some isolated showers about the northern east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Tuesday 7 OctoberA weak upper trough will move across southern districts during the day, but will produce little if any rainfall. The high over the Tasman Sea will extend a weak ridge along the east coast with just a slight chance of showers about the tropical coast. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will continue elsewhere in the state.Wednesday until FridayAn upper level trough is expected to move over the southern parts of the state in the outlook period possibly leading to afternoon showers and storms in the southern interior and southeast. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will otherwise for the rest of the states weather.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDQ10700
