MELBOURNE - Oct 3/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over southeastern Australia will shift eastwards into the Tasman Sea later today, maintaining a ridge along the Queensland east coast. An upper level trough will move eastwards into southwestern Queensland today, slowly moving eastwards over southern Queensland during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of FridayPossible isolated showers or thunderstorms over the central interior clearing during the evening. Isolated showers about parts of the east coast. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate mostly east to southeast winds, fresh at times about the northern east coast.Saturday 4 OctoberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms are likely across the central interior districts, increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the southern interior during the afternoon. The remainder of the state should remain fine and mostly sunny. Light to moderate mostly northeast to southeast winds, fresh at times about the northern east coast.Sunday 5 OctoberThe upper level trough should move over the southeast of the state with isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms over the southeast and southern interior. The high in the Tasman Sea will continue to direct an onshore flow and isolated showers to parts of the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere in the state.Monday 6 OctoberThe upper trough will push offshore, with a return to more stable conditions over the state. The high will maintain the onshore flow and lead to the chance of some isolated showers about the northern east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Tuesday 7 OctoberA weak upper trough will move across southern districts during the day, but will produce little if any rainfall. The high over the Tasman Sea will extend a weak ridge along the east coast with just a slight chance of showers about the tropical coast. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will continue elsewhere in the state.Wednesday until FridayAn upper level trough is expected to move over the southern parts of the state late in the outlook period possibly leading to afternoon showers and storms in the southern interior and southeast.
