Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A surface trough moving into central Queensland waters will weaken overnight. A high pressure system over Victoria will shift eastwards into the Tasman Sea during Friday, extending a ridge along the Queensland east coast. An upper level trough will move eastwards into southwestern Queensland on Friday, and will move eastwards over southern Queensland during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers about parts of the east coast, mostly through central areas. Isolated showers or thunderstorms over the central interior during the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate mostly east to southeast winds, fresh at times about the northern east coast.Fire Danger -  Very high in the far north.Saturday 4 OctoberAn onshore flow associated with a high over the southern Tasman Sea should continue to push isolated showers onto parts of Queensland's east coast. An upper level trough in combination with a surface trough is expected to produce isolated showers and possible thunderstorms across the central interior districts, increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the southern interior. The remainder of the state should remain fine and mostly sunny.Sunday 5 OctoberThe upper level trough should move over the southeast of the state with isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms over the southeast and southern interior. The high in the Tasman Sea will continue to direct an onshore flow and isolated showers to parts of the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere in the state.Monday 6 OctoberThe upper trough will push offshore, with a return to more stable conditions over the state. The high will maintain the onshore flow and lead to the chance of some isolated showers about the northern east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Tuesday until ThursdayA ridge of high pressure should persist over the east coast with isolated showers about parts of the east coast. Another upper level trough and surface trough are expected to move over the southern parts of the state during the outlook period, possibly leading to afternoon showers and storms over the southern and southeast interior.
