Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A surface trough moving into central Queensland waters will weaken overnight. A high pressure system over Victoria will shift eastwards into the Tasman Sea during Friday, extending a ridge along the Queensland east coast. An upper level trough will move eastwards into southwestern Queensland on Friday, and will move eastwards over southern Queensland during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayJust the chance of some showers or thunderstorms over parts of the central interior. Isolated showers are also possible about the Capricornia and Wide Bay districts. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate east to southeast winds, fresh at times about parts of the east coast.Friday 3 OctoberIsolated showers about parts of the east coast, mostly through central areas. Isolated showers or thunderstorms over the central and southern interior during the afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate east to southeast winds, fresh at times about the northern east coast.Fire Danger -  Very high in the far north.Saturday 4 OctoberA weak onshore flow should continue to push isolated showers onto parts of Queensland's east coast. The upper level trough may spread some isolated showers and thunderstorms across the southern and central interior districts. The remainder of the state should remain fine and mostly sunny.Sunday 5 OctoberThe upper level trough should move over the southeast of the state with isolated showers and the chance of thunderstorms over the southeast and southern interior. The high in the Tasman Sea will continue to direct a onshore flow and isolated showers along parts of the east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere in the state.Monday 6 OctoberThe upper trough will push offshore, with more stable conditions over the state. A ridge of high pressure will push through the state, with an onshore flow will lead to the chance of some isolated showers about the northern east coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Tuesday until ThursdayA ridge of high pressure should persist over the east coast with isolated showers about parts of the east coast. The next upper level and surface troughs are expected over the southern parts of the state during the outlook period, possibly leading to afternoon showers and storms over the southern and southeast interior.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Friday.Product IDQ10700
