MELBOURNE - Oct 2/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Bight is extending a ridge into western New South Wales in the wake of a cold front, and will gradually drift east during the next few days and promote fine weather. During Friday a trough is forecast to affect central and northern parts of the coast as another cold front passes to the south, although very little rainfall is expected. By Saturday, the high is forecast to be over the Tasman Sea, with the resultant northerly winds bringing a return to hot weather in many districts. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine and mostly clear. Southeast to southwesterly winds, tending northeasterly near the coast.Friday 3 OctoberPartly cloudy along the coast south from the Hunter with the chance of isolated showers or drizzle. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Areas of early frost on the ranges and western slopes. Areas of early fog in eastern districts. Mostly light and variable winds inland, and southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast. Dangerous surf.Saturday 4 OctoberIsolated showers in the northeast, chiefly near the Queensland border, with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, with a warm to hot day expected in the west. Northwest to northeasterly winds, freshening along the coast. Dangerous surf.Sunday 5 OctoberFine and mostly sunny, apart from the chance of a shower or two in the far northeast. A hot day in most areas. North to northwesterly winds, and a southerly change developing in the south.Monday 6 OctoberIsolated afternoon showers in the south, more scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges. A warm to hot day in most areas.
