MELBOURNE - Sep 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is drifting eastwards over Bight waters today, but will remain to the west of Victoria during Thursday as another cold front crosses Tasmania early Thursday morning. The high will then drift across Victoria on Friday, reaching the Tasman Sea Saturday. A weak cold front will enter southwest Victoria Saturday afternoon and reach central areas Saturday night. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas tending scattered about the coast, clearing from the west during the afternoon but redeveloping at night. Local hail over Gippsland and snowfalls as low as 800 metres on the eastern ranges during the morning. Generally fine and cool in the north but a colder day in the south with moderate to locally fresh southwesterly winds.Thursday 2 OctoberEarly frost patches over the northeast. Isolated light showers in the south, mainly near the coast but dry across the north. A cool day with moderate southwest to southerly winds.Friday 3 OctoberMorning fog patches inland. Chance of morning drizzle in the south, otherwise dry. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, but mild and mostly sunny over the north. Generally light winds.Saturday 4 OctoberFine apart from early morning fog patches inland.
