Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front crossing Victoria will clear the State tonight. The next high pressure system will move over Bight waters on Wednesday but will remain to the west of Victoria during Thursday as another cold front crosses Tasmania. The high will then drift across Victoria on Friday, reaching the Tasman Sea Saturday. Another front will move through Bass Strait Saturday night.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayShowers mostly near and south of the Divide with local hail and thunder. A cold squally west to southwesterly wind change extending across eastern districts this evening with snowfalls developing on the ranges down to 900 metres overnight.Wednesday 1 OctoberIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas tending scattered about the coast. Local hail over Gippsland and snowfalls as low as 800 metres on the eastern ranges during the morning. Generally fine and cool in the north but a colder day in the south with moderate to locally fresh southwesterly winds.Thursday 2 OctoberEarly frost patches over the northeast. Isolated light showers possible in the south, mainly near the coast but dry across the north. A cool day with moderate southwest to southerly winds.Friday 3 OctoberMorning fog patches inland. Chance of morning drizzle in the south, otherwise dry. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, but mild and mostly sunny over the north. Generally light winds.Saturday 4 OctoberFine apart from early morning fog patches inland. A generally mild to warm and partly cloudy day with moderate northerly winds tending cooler southerly over far western districts during the afternoon and central districts during the evening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
