MELBOURNE - Sep 30/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge into New South Wales, promoting fine conditions in most districts. A cold front will pass through the southwest later today, reaching the southeast overnight and the remainder during Wednesday. It is preceded by windy and warm to hot conditions but bringing little or no rain apart from showers about the southern ranges. After this, another high is forecast to strengthen over the Bight and to push a new ridge across the state, resulting in a continuation of generally fine weather through the rest of the week. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayLate showers on the southern ranges and far southwest slopes, falling as snow above 1600 metres. Isolated showers over the north of the Mid North Coast. Northeast to northwesterly winds becoming fresh and gusty in the south, shifting southwesterly in the west later. Winds reaching gale force at times above 1200 metres in the Alpine area.Wednesday 1 OctoberIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern tablelands with snow above about 900 metres at first, clearing. Chance of isolated showers on the far north coast in the evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Warm day in the northeast. A milder gusty southwest to southeasterly change extending throughout.Thursday 2 OctoberFine and mostly sunny. Local early frost patches on the southern tablelands. Southeast to southwesterly winds.Friday 3 OctoberPartly cloudy along the coast south from the Hunter with the chance of isolated showers or drizzle. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Generally southwest to southeast winds.Saturday 4 OctoberIsolated showers about the northern half of the coast. Isolated afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms over the northern ranges and northwest slopes and plains. Fine in the west and south.
