U.S. National Weekly Rice Summary

LITTLE ROCK - Sep 29/14 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

                       National Weekly Rice Summary
                 (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California)
                             Domestic Trend
   In the south, long and medium grain prices trending mostly steady.  Parboiled
prices steady to 1.00 lower.  Second heads and Brewers steady.  Rice by-products:
rice bran prices mostly steady, however Louisiana trending 10.00-20.00 lower; rice
millfeed mostly steady on limited comparable sales; ground hulls mostly steady,
instances 5.00 lower in Arkansas.  Louisiana Rough Rice price mostly steady on very
limited current trades as most inventory continues to be placed in storage.
   In California, medium and short grain prices trending steady.  Second heads prices
steady to 4.00 lower.  Brewers prices steady to 3.00 lower.  Rice by-products:  rice
bran prices 15.00-25.00 lower; ground hulls steady on limited trades.  New crop rice
harvest under way with some slowing due to recent rains.  New crop rice is coming in
with high moisture content which is requiring longer and slower drying times.
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Friday Sep 26th, Nov 14 closed .11 higher at
12.815, Jan 15 closed .12 higher at 13.015 and Mar 15 closed .135 higher at 13.21.
US dollar index on Friday settled at 85.62.
