Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 28/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front entering western Victoria will move through central parts of the State this evening and the east early on Monday morning. A weak high pressure ridge will extend across northern Victoria on Monday then another cold front is expected to rapidly cross Victoria on Tuesday. A new high pressure system will move over Bight waters on Wednesday but it will remain to the west of Victoria on Thursday while another cold front crosses Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of SundayWarm northerly winds, locally strong to gale force about southern and elevated areas ahead of a milder west to southwesterly wind change in the west, crossing central areas this evening and the east overnight. Winds rapidly moderating after the change. Isolated showers developing near and south of the divide with the change with the chance of thunderstorms.Monday 29 SeptemberFine apart from isolated clearing showers in the east and near the coast. A mild to warm and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwest winds extending throughout.Tuesday 30 SeptemberScattered showers developing near and south of the divide but dry in the northwest. Mild fresh northwest wind shifting cooler southwesterly from the west during the afternoon and strengthening near the coast. Brief snow possible on Alpine peaks at night.Wednesday 1 OctoberIsolated showers near and south of the divide, scattered about the coast. Local hail with the showers over Gippsland and snowfalls as low as 900 metres on the eastern ranges during the morning. Generally fine and cool over the northern plains but a colder day in the south with moderate to locally fresh southwesterly wind.Thursday 2 OctoberIsolated showers possible in the south but dry over the north. A cool day with moderate southwest to southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
