MELBOURNE - Sep 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the northern Queensland east coast. A surface trough situated over Queensland's far southeast is expected to push off the coast early today. Following the trough passage, a new high will extend eastwards into southeastern Australia and maintain the ridge into Queensland. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over parts of eastern Queensland, mostly in central areas and the far southeast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Early morning patchy fog in eastern districts. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh at times about the far northern and far southern coasts.Saturday 27 SeptemberThe next upper trough should move across southern Queensland with the chance of showers and possibly even thunderstorms along the coastal fringe in the southeast. The high over southeastern Australia should continue to slowly move eastwards, resulting in fine and mostly sunny conditions across the rest of the state.Sunday 28 SeptemberThe high over southeastern Australia will push into the Tasman Sea, extending a ridge along the east coast with onshore winds. Isolated showers are expected along parts of the east coast, otherwise fine and mostly sunny conditions are likely across the rest of state.Monday 29 SeptemberThe high will continue to move slowly east in the Tasman Sea with the ridge extending through eastern Queensland. Onshore winds are expected to produce isolated showers over northern coastal areas. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Tuesday until ThursdayThe high will continue to move slowly east before the next high moves into the Great Australian Bight by midweek. Isolated showers along parts of the east coast during the outlook, mostly over northern areas.
