MELBOURNE - Sep 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over South Australia extends a ridge over inland Victoria. A weak cold front will move through Bass Strait this morning. The high will move slowly eastwards across New South Wales during Saturday, extending a ridge southeastwards across Victoria, before reaching the Tasman Sea on Sunday. A strong cold front will enter western and central Victoria later Sunday and will clear the State early Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayLocal morning fog inland. Scattered showers developing across southern and mountain districts with only isolated showers extending over the north. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Saturday 27 SeptemberFine apart from isolated showers clearing from the exposed coastal areas early morning and the chance of an afternoon shower about the central and eastern ranges. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds.Sunday 28 SeptemberScattered showers developing in the southwest and late afternoon and extending to central areas at night. Fine and mainly sunny elsewhere. Warm to hot with strengthening north to northwesterly winds, shifting west to southwest over western and central areas later in the day or evening.Monday 29 SeptemberAreas of rain over the eastern half of the State, contracting east and clearing in the afternoon. Dry elsewhere.
