MELBOURNE - Sep 25/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Bight will extend a ridge over inland Victoria this evening, as a weak cold front moves across Tasmania overnight. The high will move slowly eastwards across southern New South Wales later Friday and during Saturday, extending a ridge southeastwards across Victoria, before reaching the Tasman Sea on Sunday. A strong cold front will enter western and central Victoria later Sunday and clear the State early Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMostly cloudy in the south with light showers and drizzle patches about the ranges and East Gippsland, clearing this evening. Isolated showers developing along the southwest coast tonight. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Friday 26 SeptemberScattered showers extending from the west across southern districts. Partly cloudy but fine over the northern inland. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southwesterly winds tending westerly during the day.Saturday 27 SeptemberFine apart from isolated showers clearing from the exposed coastal areas early morning and the chance of an afternoon shower about the central and east ranges. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds.Sunday 28 SeptemberScattered showers developing in the southwest and extending to central areas in the evening. Fine and mainly sunny in the east. Warm to hot with strengthening north to northwesterly winds, shifting west to southwest over western and central areas later in the day or evening.Monday 29 SeptemberAreas of rain over the eastern half of the State, contracting east and clearing in the afternoon.
