Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over eastern Victoria will clear this morning as a high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge towards southern Victoria. A weak cold front will move across Tasmania and Bass Strait early Friday then the high will move eastwards across New South Wales, extending a ridge southeastwards across Victoria, before reaching the Tasman Sea on Saturday. The next cold front will enter southwest Victoria later Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayAreas of rain and the chance of a thunderstorm clearing from the east this morning. Mostly cloudy with light showers and drizzle patches in the south and far west, contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon and later clearing. Isolated showers developing along the southwest coast tonight. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Friday 26 SeptemberScattered showers extending from the west across southern districts. Partly cloudy but fine over the northern inland. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southwesterly winds tending northwest during the day.Saturday 27 SeptemberFine apart from the chance of an afternoon showers about the east ranges afternoon. A mild to warm and mainly sunny day with light to moderate northeast to northwest winds.Sunday 28 SeptemberIsolated showers developing in the southwest and extending to central areas in the evening. Fine and mainly sunny in the east. Warm to hot with strengthening north to northwesterly winds, shifting west to southwest in the west towards evening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
