Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 24/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast, while a trough embedded with multiple low pressure centres moves over South Australia. Rain associated with this system in the west today will shift to the east during Thursday before moving out to sea. Another high is forecast to develop behind the trough during Friday and should remain the dominant feature in the region through the weekend; its stabilising influence restricting any shower activity to areas near the coast. The next trough looks set to cross the state early in the new week, preceded by very warm conditions in most districts.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas in the west, extending eastwards to the central ranges and southeast. Scattered thunderstorms in the northwest, more isolated in the central and southern inland. Fine elsewhere. North to northeasterly winds becoming fresh and gusty in most areas, turning southwesterly near the SA border late in the day.Thursday 25 SeptemberRain areas and possible thunderstorms in central and eastern districts, contracting to the central and northern ranges and coast during the day. Thunderstorms more likely in the northeast. Northerly winds in the northeast, with a fresh to strong south to southwesterly change extending across the remainder.Friday 26 SeptemberIsolated showers about the coast and adjacent ranges, mostly over the Hunter and lower Mid North Coast districts. Fine and mostly sunny west of the ranges. South to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong along the coastal fringe.Saturday 27 SeptemberPossible afternoon showers along the northern half of the coast and ranges. Chance of isolated showers over the southern ranges. Fine and sunny west of the ranges. Generally southwest to southeasterly winds, turning northwesterly in the southwest.Sunday 28 SeptemberChance of isolated showers on the far north coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast winds in the far northeast. Northwest to northeasterly winds over the remainder. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
