Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 23/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow moving high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough over South Australia will move into western Victoria this afternoon and will cross the remainder of the State on Wednesday night. Meanwhile a high pressure system will develop over the Bight and extend a ridge across southern Victoria on Thursday with a weak cold front moving across Tasmania on Thursday night. The high will then move slowly eastwards across southern New South Wales on Friday and into the Tasman Sea on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers, increasing to areas of rain during the afternoon and evening, then contracting to eastern districts at night with isolated showers to follow in the south. Isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the north and west. A mild day with moderate to locally fresh northeast to northerly winds tending west to southwesterly over western and coastal areas. Afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Thursday 25 SeptemberAreas of rain in the east clearing during the morning. Isolated showers in the south clearing in the afternoon. Cooler with moderate southerly winds gradually extending throughout.Friday 26 SeptemberScattered showers extending from the west across most districts. Cool to mild day with light to moderate southwesterly winds.Saturday 27 SeptemberIsolated drizzle or showers in the south, contracting eastwards and clearing in the afternoon.
