MELBOURNE - Sep 17/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak low pressure system and associated trough lie over the Tasman Sea, with a high pressure system located over the Bight. A cold front near Tasmania is expected to clip the far southeast parts of New South Wales later in the day. The high pressure system is expected to strengthen a ridge over western parts of the state. Over the next few days, the low over the Tasman is forecast to move slowly east away from the coast, while the high pressure centre moves towards New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers about the southwest slopes and southern ranges, and falling as snow above about 1400 metres, lowering to 1200 metres later tonight. The chance of showers on the southern coast later. Fine and mostly clear remainder. West to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong in the southeast.Thursday 18 SeptemberIsolated showers about the southwest slopes and southern ranges, falling as snow above 1000 metres. The chance of showers about the South Coast and Illawarra . Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Morning frost about the ranges, and possibly in the southwest. Winds southwest to southeasterly, fresh and gusty about the southeast.Friday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers about the northern coast and adjacent eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere. Partly cloudy in the north, mostly sunny in the south. Early frost about the ranges, slopes and southern inland.
