MELBOURNE - Sep 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system and associated trough over eastern Victoria will lie just to the east of Victoria tonight. A cold front embedded in a southwesterly airflow will move across Victoria on Wednesday as a high pressure system develops south of the Bight. The high will move slowly eastwards during the remainder of the week to be over Victoria on Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east, scattered over the southeast. Snow showers on the Alpine peaks. Dry over the northwest. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 17 SeptemberScattered showers with hail developing over southern and mountain districts and falling as snow above 1000 metres. Isolated thunderstorms developing over Gippsland. Isolated showers in the north near the ranges. A cool day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Thursday 18 SeptemberIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, scattered over South Gippsland. Snow showers above 1000 metres. Early frost patches in the north than a cool day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong about the coast.Friday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers near and south of the ranges, falling as snow above 1500 metres, contracting to the coast at night. Early inland frost patches then a cool and partly cloudy day with mainly moderate southerly winds, easing later in the west.Saturday 20 SeptemberIsolated showers, mainly near the coast clearing. Early inland frosts then partly cloudy in the south, sunny in the north.
