Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A relatively weak low pressure system over eastern Victoria extends a trough northwards over coastal NSW. The trough and associated isolated thunderstorm activity will clear the coast late this afternoon and evening and the low will move to eastern Bass Strait and deepening somewhat. The low is expected to move slowly to the southeast over the southern Tasman Sea and intensify during Wednesday while a cold front moves northeast from the Southern Ocean clipping far southeast NSW later in the day. A high pressure system southwest of Adelaide is expected to extend a ridge over western NSW during Wednesday. Little change in the pattern is expected Thursday and Friday with the low over the southern Tasman and the ridge over western NSW. The high and ridge is likely to move over NSW on the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms near the coast, clearing early evening. Scattered showers over the remainder of the southeast, with snow on the Alpine peaks, easing this evening. Fine remainder. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the east, with fresh and gusty west to southwesterly winds extending throughout by evening.Wednesday 17 SeptemberIsolated showers about the southeast, mostly about the western and southern slopes of the southern ranges, and falling as snow above about 1200 metres. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. West to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong in the southeast.Thursday 18 SeptemberIsolated showers in the far southeast, falling as snow on the Alps. Fine elsewhere. Early frost about the ranges. Winds southwest to southeasterly, fresh and gusty about the southeast.Friday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers about the southern coast and far southern ranges, and possibly about the north coast during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. Early frost about the ranges. South to southwest winds, fresh and gusty near the coast.Saturday 20 SeptemberIsolated showers possible near the coast. Fine remainder.
