MELBOURNE - Sep 16/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system and associated trough will move slowly across eastern Victoria today, and will lie just to the east of Victoria tonight. A cold front embedded in a southwesterly airflow will move across Victoria on Wednesday as a high pressure system develops south of the Bight. The high will move slowly eastwards during the remainder of the week to be over Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers over the east and south, tending to rain at times over Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms in the east and snow showers on the Alpine peaks. Dry over the northwest. Light winds in the east at first, but moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds extending throughout this afternoon.Wednesday 17 SeptemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms with hail developing over southern and mountain districts and falling as snow down to 1000 metres. Isolated showers in the north near the ranges. A cool day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Thursday 18 SeptemberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, mainly near the coast. Snow showers above 1100 metres. Early frost patches in the north than a cool day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong about the coast.Friday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers near and south of the ranges, falling as snow above 1400 metres, contracting to the coast at night. Early inland fog and frost patches.
