Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak ridge of high pressure lies along the Queensland east coast. A surface and upper level trough is moving through southern districts, and will push into southeastern Queensland late on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the far southeast. Isolated showers over the tropical east. Possible showers or thunderstorms over the southwest of the state. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, with a moderate southwesterly winds change through southwestern areas.Tuesday 16 SeptemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the southern and central interior, extending into eastern parts during the afternoon and evening and becoming scattered over southern areas. Isolated showers over some coastal tropical areas. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Mostly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending north to northwesterly in the southeast.Fire Danger -  A Very High Fire Danger in most southern and eastern districts.Wednesday 17 SeptemberThe surface and upper trough will pass offshore, clearing the weather off the coast. Fine and mostly sunny for most of the state.Thursday 18 SeptemberFine and sunny throughout most the state as the state's weather is dominated by a ridge of high pressure.Friday 19 SeptemberThe ridge of high pressure over southern Australia should keep Queensland mainly fine. Some isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible over the Channel Country as an upper trough strengthens over New South Wales. Isolated showers possible over the southeast.Saturday until MondayThe upper trough is likely to strengthen further over New South Wales during the weekend, producing showers and storms over southern and eastern Queensland, though there's a high level of uncertainty about its strength and position at this stage.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDQ10700
