MELBOURNE - Sep 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over northwestern Victoria will move eastwards across inland Victoria tonight then move southeastwards across eastern districts on Tuesday, to be located just east of Gabo Island by Tuesday night. Cold fronts will move across Victoria on Wednesday and Thursday. A high pressure system will move to the Bight on Wednesday then move slowly eastwards to be over Victoria on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of MondayAreas of rain in the east and near the coast, contracting further eastwards. Isolated showers elsewhere in the south. Cloudy with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds tending south to southwesterly in the west.Tuesday 16 SeptemberRain areas in the east tending to showers from the west, scattered near the coast. Fine in the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms in the east. Snow showers developing above 1500 metres. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh to strong near the coast.Wednesday 17 SeptemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms with hail developing over southern and mountain districts and falling as snow down to 1000 metres. Isolated showers in the north near the ranges. A cool day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Thursday 18 SeptemberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, mainly near the coast. Snow showers above 1100 metres. Early frost patches in the north than a cool day with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong about the coast.Friday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers near and south of the ranges, falling as snow above 1400 metres, contracting to the coast at night. Early inland fog and frost patches.
