MELBOURNE - Sep 15/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system in western Victoria will continue to move east this evening. A high pressure system west of Perth will move east following the low to be centred over the Bight by Tuesday afternoon. The high will move slowly southeastward during Wednesday and Thursday. A series of weak troughs will move over the far south of the State during the next several days. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area, although less likely over Eyre Peninsula. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds, with light to moderate northwesterly winds in the far northeast until the afternoon.Tuesday 16 SeptemberIsolated showers about the agricultural area most likely about coasts and ranges, contracting to the southern coasts by the evening. The chance of showers developing west of Ernabella to Marla to Nullarbor during the afternoon and evening. Early morning fog patches about western and central districts. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north and hot in the far northeast. Light to moderate southeast to southwest winds.Wednesday 17 SeptemberPossible early morning frost about the Flinders and Mid North districts. Slight chance of showers about the southern agricultural area and far southwest of the Flinders district, more likely about southern coasts and ranges. Slight chance of showers northwest of Coober Pedy. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Mainly moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Thursday 18 SeptemberPossible early morning frost in the south. Slight chance of showers west of a line Ceduna to Oodnadatta. Slight chance of showers about southern coasts. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh northeast to southeasterly winds in the west, light to moderate southeast to southwesterly in the east.Friday 19 September Slight chance of showers about southern Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast. Slight chance of showers northwest of about Fowlers bay to Moomba. Mild to warm with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday afternoon until midnight Thursday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm about Kangaroo Island, southern Fleurieu Peninsula, the Upper and Lower South East and locally about the Mt Lofty Ranges. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere. Saturday until MondayFine apart from the chance of showers in the far northeast during Saturday morning and about southern coasts on Sunday.
