MELBOURNE - Sep 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system is approaching the western Victorian border this morning and will move eastwards across inland Victoria to reach north central Victoria by this evening. The low will then steer southeasterly across eastern districts on Tuesday, to be located just east of Gabo Island by Tuesday night. A high pressure system will move over the Bight on Wednesday, as the low moves slowly away across the Tasman Sea. The high will remain west of Victoria on Thursday with a ridge extending across the northwest of the State. Forecast for the rest of MondayEarly fog patches in the east. Areas of rain contracting to the east during the day but scattered showers persisting in the south. Isolated showers clearing from the northwest. Mild and cloudy with light to moderate northeast to east winds tending south to southeast in the west and freshening.Tuesday 16 SeptemberRain areas in the east tending to showers in the west. Mainly fine in the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms developing in the northeast and isolated snowfalls about the peaks. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with light to moderate southeast to southerly winds.Wednesday 17 SeptemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in southern and mountain districts. Snowfalls down to to 1200 metres. Cool day with fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Thursday 18 SeptemberEarly frost patches in the north. Scattered showers mainly in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1200 metres.
