MELBOURNE - Sep 14/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front moved across Tasmania this morning, while a high pressure system located over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge westward over Victoria. A low pressure system will approach the western Victorian border tonight and then move eastwards across northwest and northern Victoria on Monday. The low will cross eastern districts on Tuesday to be just east of Gabo Island by Tuesday night and then move away to the southeast across the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A new high pressure system will cross the Bight to be south of Adelaide Wednesday night. The high will move slowly eastwards on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers developing over western districts, extending to central inland districts by the evening. Light winds inland, light to moderate southeast to southwesterly along the coast.Monday 15 SeptemberEarly fog patches in the east. Scattered showers extending to most areas from the west, but generally fine in the northwest. Mild and cloudy with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 16 SeptemberRain areas in the east tending to showers in the west. Mainly fine in the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms developing in the northeast and isolated snowfalls about the peaks. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with light to moderate southeast to southerly winds.Wednesday 17 SeptemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in southern and mountain districts. Snowfalls down to to 1200 metres. Cool day with fresh southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Thursday 18 SeptemberEarly frost patches in the north. Scattered showers mainly in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1200 metres.
