MELBOURNE - Sep 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will cross to the south of Tasmania Sunday morning, while a high pressure system located over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge westward over Victoria. A low pressure system will approach the western Victorian border Sunday night and then move eastwards across northwest and northern Victoria on Monday. The low will cross northeast districts on Tuesday to be just east of Gabo Island by Tuesday night and then move away to the southeast across the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A a new high pressure system will cross the Bight to be south of Adelaide Wednesday night. Forecast for the rest of SundayMorning fog and frost patches. A fine day across the State at first but cloud increasing from the west during the day with isolated showers developing over western districts, extending to central inland districts by the evening. Cool to mild with generally light winds inland, tending light to moderate south to southwesterly along the coast.Monday 15 SeptemberRain areas extending to most areas from the west. Cool to mild and cloudy with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 16 SeptemberRain contracting to the east. Isolated thunderstorms developing in the northeast. and isolated snowfalls about the peaks. Isolated showers continuing in most districts apart from the northwest. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with light to moderate southeast to southerly winds.Wednesday 17 SeptemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly in southern and mountain districts. Snowfalls down to to 1200 metres.
