Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over southeastern Australia will drift into the Tasman Sea today, extending a ridge along the Queensland east coast. The ridge will weaken during Sunday as the high shifts further east. A surface trough lies through the state's interior, and an upper trough through central Queensland will shift eastwards today and off the east coast overnight.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms from the central interior through to the southeast. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Sunday 14 SeptemberIsolated showers about the north tropical coast and along the southeast coast. Fine and sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Fire Danger -  Very High in the northern Central Highlands.Monday 15 SeptemberThe high over the Tasman Sea will weaken further as it moves east across the Tasman Sea. A surface trough will move into the southwest late in the day as an upper trough approaches the state from the west. Fine and clear over most of the state except for the chance of some isolated showers about parts of the east coast.Tuesday 16 SeptemberThe upper and surface trough will move quickly east, leading to isolated showers and thunderstorms through the southeast and southern interior. A weak onshore airflow will contract the showers to parts of the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Wednesday 17 SeptemberThe upper trough will move off the east coast during the day. Showers and thunderstorms are possible over parts of southern and central Queensland as the trough passes. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Thursday until SaturdayA series of upper troughs will move across the state during the outlook period. Chances of showers and storms will increase over parts of southern and central Queensland with each passing trough.
