MELBOURNE - Sep 13/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over the Tasman Sea is slow moving. A low pressure system near the western border will move over the south of South Australia during Sunday to be centred over Yorke Peninsula during Sunday evening then continue its eastward movement to be centred over Victoria by Monday afternoon. A high pressure system will develop following the low, to be centred over the Bight by Tuesday afternoon. The high will move slowly southeastward during Wednesday and Thursday as another low pressure system moves over the northwest. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms developing about western coasts late evening. A cool to mild evening with light southeast to northeasterly winds, freshening in the west late evening.Sunday 14 SeptemberEarly morning fog patches about the Lower South East and Kangaroo Island. Isolated early morning thunderstorms near southern and western coasts. Isolated showers developing south of a line Port Lincoln to Adelaide to Keith. Mild to warm in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north and west. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, turning fresh to strong northerly in the west early morning ahead of a fresh southwesterly change extending over western districts.Monday 15 SeptemberIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area and far south of the Flinders district. Possible isolated showers about western coasts. Early morning fog patches west of about Ceduna. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north and hot in the far northeast. Moderate southwesterly winds extending throughout. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds in the northeast ahead of the southwesterly change.Tuesday 16 SeptemberSlight chance of showers about the southern agricultural area and far southwest of the Flinders district contracting to the southern coasts by the evening. Slight chance of showers developing west of Ernabella to Marla to Nullarbor during the afternoon and evening. Early morning fog patches about western and central districts. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north and hot in the far northeast. Light to moderate southeast to southwest winds.Wednesday 17 September Slight chance of showers about the southern agricultural area and far southwest of the Flinders district. Slight chance of showers west of a line Ceduna to Leigh Creek to Oodnadatta. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, turning northeasterly in the far northwest. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday evening until midnight Wednesday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm about Kangaroo Island, southern Fleurieu Peninsula and the Upper and Lower South East, with local falls of 5 to 10 mm possible in the south of the Lower South East, and less than 2 mm over the remainder of the southern agricultural area, about western coasts and west of about Ceduna to Leigh Creek to Oodnadatta. Thursday until SaturdaySlight chance of showers north of a line Elliston to Broken Hill clearing during Friday.
