MELBOURNE - Sep 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over southeastern Australia will drift into the Tasman sea today, extending a ridge along the Queensland east coast. The ridge will weaken during Sunday as the high shifts further east. A surface trough lies through the state's interior, and an upper trough through central Queensland will shift eastwards today and off the east coast overnight. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayRain areas, scattered showers and thunderstorms over the Central Highlands and Coalfields, weakening during the afternoon. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere from the central interior through to the southeast. Isolated showers developing over the northern tropical coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Sunday 14 SeptemberThe high should move slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea, and may push some isolated showers over parts of the east coast. Fine and sunny elsewhere, though isolated showers over the southeast interior are possible.Monday 15 SeptemberFine and clear over most of the state except for the chance of some isolated showers and storms about the state's far southeast as a weak upper trough moves over the region, and some isolated showers about parts of the tropical east coast in an onshore flow.Tuesday 16 SeptemberThe next upper trough will strengthen over southern Queensland, leading to isolated showers and thunderstorms through the southeast and southern interior. A weak onshore airflow will contract the showers to parts of the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.Wednesday until FridayThe upper trough will weaken in the south as the next one builds through western Queensland later in the week. Some showers and possible storms can be expected over parts of southern and central Queensland during the outlook period.
