Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 12/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure is currently centred over the southeast of Australia. The high centre is expected to slowly move eastwards into the Tasman Sea and weaken during Saturday and Sunday. A trough and weak southerly change will extend along southern and central parts of the coast on Sunday, associated with a low pressure centre moving well to the south of Tasmania. A weak low will then develop over western Victoria and track steadily eastwards, crossing the central New South Wales coast late Tuesday or early Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers along the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges, contracting to the northeast through the day but becoming scattered over the northern tablelands in the afternoon. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms on the northern tablelands, and the chance of thunderstorms along the northern coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning fog patches in the south. Local early frosts on the southern ranges. Light and variable winds inland, with east to northeasterly winds near the coast.Sunday 14 SeptemberFine apart from the chance of a morning shower or two along the northern coast, and some late drizzle about the southern ranges. Mostly sunny, though some cloud developing across the south. Morning fog patches in the east. Local early frosts on the southern ranges. Light and variable winds inland. Northeasterly winds near the coast ahead of a southerly change in the south.Monday 15 SeptemberIsolated showers along the coast and adjacent ranges, becoming scattered in the north with the chance of thunderstorms. Possible showers across the southern inland. Fine across the central and northern inland. Morning fog patches in the east. Local early frosts on the southern ranges. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the west, freshening near the SA border, tending southeast to southwesterly near the coast.Tuesday 16 SeptemberShowers in the east, heavier and more widespread along the southern coast. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine in the west. Northeast to northwesterly winds in the east, tending northwest to southwesterly in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDN10031
