MELBOURNE - Sep 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong cold front moved through eastern areas of the State overnight. A high pressure ridge will extend across South Australia to northwest Victoria today, while another front will move across Bass Strait early in the morning. A further cold front is expected to cross southern Victoria tonight and early on Thursday morning, then a high pressure system will drift eastwards over Victoria on Friday to reach the central Tasman Sea on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers in the far east, becoming isolated in the morning and persisting about the northeast ranges into the afternoon. Isolated showers clearing over the southwest and south during the afternoon, before redeveloping and becoming more extensive over the far southwest at night. Morning fog patches in the east. Dry over the remainder. Mild with moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Thursday 11 SeptemberCloudy periods with scattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts, then contracting to the coast and east ranges by the evening. Partly cloudy and the chance of an afternoon shower over the northern inland. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Friday 12 SeptemberMorning fog and frost areas inland. Mainly dry and sunny apart from a shower or two clearing from the coast by mid afternoon. A cool day with light to moderate southwest to south winds.Saturday 13 SeptemberMorning fog and frost patches inland then a fine and mainly sunny afternoon.
