Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 9/14 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front is located over central Victoria and will move eastwards across eastern Victoria this evening to clear the State overnight. A high pressure ridge will extend across the Bight to northwest Victoria on Wednesday, while another front will move across Bass Strait early in the morning. A further cold front is expected to cross southern Victoria Wednesday night and early on Thursday morning, then the high pressure system will drift eastwards over Victoria on Friday to reach the central Tasman Sea on Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayRain and isolated thunderstorms contracting eastwards through central and eastern districts this evening with moderate to heavy falls possible. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the southwest and far northwest, mostly clearing. Fresh to strong northerly winds reaching gale force about Alpine areas, easing and tending cooler northwest to westerly from the west.Wednesday 10 SeptemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the far east clearing early morning, but isolated showers persisting about the northeast ranges into the afternoon. Isolated showers clearing over the southwest and south during the afternoon, before redeveloping and becoming more extensive over the far southwest at night. Morning fog patches in the east. Dry over the remainder. Mild with moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Thursday 11 SeptemberCloudy periods with scattered showers developing over southern and mountain districts, then contracting to the coast and east ranges by the evening. Partly cloudy and the chance of an afternoon shower over the northern inland. A cool to mild day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Friday 12 SeptemberMorning fog and frost areas inland. Mainly dry and sunny apart from a shower or two clearing from the coast by mid afternoon. A cool day with light to moderate southwest to south winds.Saturday 13 SeptemberMorning fog and frost patches inland then a fine and mainly sunny afternoon. Cool to mild with light winds tending light to moder west to southwesterly along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
